Just a reminder it is Mucking in Day tomorrow for Ruma Korimako and Ruma Kotare. We are hoping to reconstruct our garden tomorrow and add some new life to it. Please make sure your children come in old clothes and wear covered in shoes. If you have spare time throughout the day we would love to see you there.

Korimako's Geometry

This week we started looking at geometry and we have been learning about maps, compasses, grids, coordinates, degrees of a circle and we have also used our fraction knowledge to help us.
On Monday we made a grid that was 2metres by 2metres and each square was 20cm by 20cm this gave us 100 squares in total. We then made an x axis and a y axis for our grid. Some students also created coordinates.
Please come and have a look at our class grid that we have made. We would love to WOW you with our knowledge.

Dress up day with cupcakes

Wow what a busy day we have had to finish book week!
We started off this morning with our animal costume parade followed by a busy day of baking cupcakes, house quiz and decorating cupcakes.

We were soooo lucky to have  Ruma Hoiho come and make cup cakes with us. We had lots of fun sharing the bowls, taking turns mixing and adding the ingredients. While we were waiting for our cup cakes to cook we read books, skipped and played with our buddies.
Once our cup cakes were ready we let them cool and then we got to decorate them like ladybugs or snails. To do this we used icing chocolate buttons and sour snakes. We then went out onto the deck and enjoyed our deliciously, scrumptious cupcakes.
We had lots of fun making and eating our divine, Witchy cup cakes.

Maria Gill

On Wednesday we were so lucky that Mrs Marsh arranged for the amazing author, Maria Gill to come in and speak to the school. She spoke to us about what it was like to be an author and gave us tips on how to write incredible stories. She also shared some of her creative non-fiction stories with us.
We thought she was pretty inspiring.
Thanks Mrs Marsh
