Inquiry

We have been focusing on Sustainable Kai and how it links to our community. At the moment the students have been inquiring about the production, consumption and reduction of Kai. The students have produced posters to show their findings. Let us know what you think of them.

Consumption
Group members: Tate J, Anneliese, Anna, Jaden and Rhys
We worked well together when we were using the computers and the Ipads to find information about the consumption of Kai. We worked together to choose which answers sounded the best and we used each other’s strengths to complete our posters.

Reduction
Group members: Lachy, Ollie, Rosie and Flynn
We worked well together because we didn’t fight and we were happy with each of the roles we were given. We found our answers on the computer then we went through all of our different answers to decide which we thought was the best answer.

Reduction
Group members: Jayk, Riley, Hannah, Ben and Cyprus
We worked well together by sharing our ideas to get the job done. We used the dictionary, computer and other experts to help us answer our questions.

Production
Group members: Jack O, Jack K, Emelia and Grier
We worked well together because each person contributed enough answers to our questions and we all had our own roles in the group.  We found some of our answers on the internet and some we already knew. We found it easiest when we were thinking about the production of Kai in our community.

Production
Group members: Kendyl, Blake, Fletcher, Tilly
And Ethan
Our group worked well together because we problem solved to get the work done. We struggled at the beginning because we didn’t agree on things at the start because we found so many different answers. But we worked really well together when it came to publishing our findings because we were able to use each other’s strengths for example, reading, writing, drawing and spelling.

Consumption
Group members: Alicia, Jade, Tate, Mitchell
Our group worked well together by talking and listening to one another. We had to make sure that we all agreed with all our answers. We also had to make sure that each member was contributing to our poster. We thought really hard to make sure that each member was happy with layout and pictures.

This group designed their clip to teach others about what will happen if they run behind or in front of cars on the field. They made all their props and their script themselves.

Our inquiry question was 'Do our school rules cater for all of our needs? If so how and why? So this term we have been doing lots of learning about rules, rights and responsibilities. The students in Ruma Korimako have surveyed other classes in the school to find out what they think about our school rules. We have found out that our rules do cater for our needs it just that some students don't completely understand them. So the students decided to look at their surveys and decide on only two rules they thought needed to be explained in more detail. The children then divided themselves into two groups to produce a skit to help show the rest of the school the right way to follow rule and the wrong way. The students have had to work co operatively, self manage, communicate, contribute and problem solve to create their own scripts, produce their own props and sound effects. All these decisions have been made the children.
Here are some pictures that were taking the other day when they were working on their skits.

Once the children have finished practising their skits I will record them and put them onto the blog
