Children's work

Matariki Writing
We have been learning about Matariki and the meaning behind it. We watched a youtube clip of 'The Seven Stars of Matariki' and decided that we would write our own versions of the legends.  Let us know what you think about our legends.
Please come and read the rest of the legends, they will be in a book in the library corner.

Swimming Memoir Writing

We have been focusing on memoir writing. Here are some samples of children's work when they wrote their swimming sports writing in a memoir style. Let us know what you think.

What’s been happening in Ruma Korimako?
Written By Lachy Dawe
In Ruma Korimako we have been learning about graphs and tally charts, SMART’S competencies, camp activities and bar graphs.
Statistics
First I am going to talk about bar graphs. Bar graph’s are when you use little boxes when you are finding out what people like and what people don’t like.
Next I am going to tell you about tally charts. Tally charts are where you use little stick’s to mark it off.

SMARTS

Now that I have told you about tally chart’s I am going to tell you about our SMART’S. In Korimako we have been learning about what type of SMARTS there are and what which one best suited each individual.

Competencies
We have been learning about self-managers, thinkers, contributors and communicators. We have learnt that it is important to have these skills because it is making us be a Gooodwood explorer.

Camp writing
After camp each student wrote a recount based on one of his or her highlights from camp. We left for camp on the 14th February returning on the 15th. It was a very successful camp. We all had lots of fun and learnt about our strengths and weaknesses.

Recount Camp Writing
Written by Tate Stephenson

On Wednesday the 14th o f February 2013 we got to go to Camp Raglan for the middle syndicate camp. I go to in my Dad ‘s car to Raglan. When it was time to go we had to stop at my house because we forgot the food. Then we headed off, we were the last one to get there. First they told us the rules and the camp had a view of the beach. We got to do archery, flying fox, low ropes, camp fire, BMX, team building and a confidence course, which was my favourite because it was like army training. We spilt these activities out over Thursday and Friday. After we finished our activities on Friday we packed up and headed off home. These were the best school days ever!!

Camp Raglan
Written by Kendyl Cowley
On Thursday the 14th of February the whole middle syndicate went to camp Raglan. My favourite part of camp was the flying fox. We went flying down a hill. I tried to scream the whole way down but I didn’t. But Liam Clark did. When I watched the adults go down I noticed the heavier they were the faster they went. All the adults went faster than the kids. I loved it. If you and your family want to go, then go onto google and search Camp Raglan. You’ll have the best time like me!
